End of Season 2

Today was Bryce's last soccer game. I can't believe that he has already played two seasons! I must say that his soccer skills have improved since the first game last fall (but I still don't think the world cup is in his future).

It was a great day for a game...not too warm but not too cold. Nana and Pop came to cheer him on. Callie was happy to watch and munch on a snack. Not a bad way to spend a Sat. afternoon.

That's it for now. I am taking Bryce and Callie to an outdoor movie with a friend and her little girl. We have a picnic packed and are planning to spread out on our blanket and watch "Happy Feet" under the stars. Not a bad way to end a beautiful Saturday!

What did he just say?

We were invited to a friends house for dinner tonight. Hanging out with friends, a nice dinner, and a good drink sounded great to me. I was telling Bryce that we were going to Mr. Brian and Ms. Kat's house for dinner and that Abby, Kate, and Emma would be there. He hollers YEAH!!!

He absolutely loves Emma. The feelings are mutual (she kept his hat safe for him when we left it at their house, not even letting her mom near it). And she is an older woman (she is five).

Ten minutes later he says "Mom, hurry up. My girlfriend is waiting for me at Mr. Brian's house". I was in complete shock. He actually said "my girlfriend". Now I know that he really has absolutely no idea what that means and it's no big deal. But it made me remember how quickly he is growing up. Which is way too fast. So tonight I made sure to read a really long goodnight book. And we snuggled extra close and for a little longer then usual. One day girlfriends will be a real thing in our world. But not today. Today he is still my baby.

What Bryce is up to...

For those of you who don't live nearby, here are some of his latest and greatest:
  • His new favorite saying..."I'm a gas machine" and then he laughs hysterically
  • Favorite Foods: Peanut butter crackers, blueberries, and chocolate

  • Loves to "water" the garden and then play in the mud. Preferably with as little clothes on as possible

  • Hates bedtime. Will stay up for hours playing, singing, and talking to imaginary friends

  • Also hates when I call him "baby". He gets this serious look on his face and says, "mommy, I am not a baby, I am a big kid!"

I am constantly amazed at what he knows and what comes out of his mouth. Yesterday on the way to school he says, "bats are nocturnal. They hang upside down. Why do they do that?"

When did he get so big?

eight is great

Today was my first official training walk with my team and some other participates of the 3 day. We all met at Stone Mountain at 6:30am. We had the choice to walk either 5 or 8 miles. Since I haven't really done any major mileage yet I was all set to walk 5. When we got to the split and our team leader yelled 5's that way 8's this way my teammates somehow convinced me to "go for it". The other Karen ( she is 53) said "if I can do it, you can do it". And I did! It was a beautiful walk and the 2 hours it took just flew by. I felt great then but I am starting to feel the effects now. My sore feet have convinced me to go and get an new pair of shoes this week. I'm not to sure how happy they are going to be tmrw at 6 when I head off for another walk.

I promise I will blog tmrw or the next day about what the kids are up to and share some new pics!!

wireless take two

I broke up with windows vista. Just wasn't a fit for me. If you must know...it sucked. I had to return my HP and order a Dell. I was slightly sad about this until today. My new laptop arrived and I love it! I have had no problems setting it up and even got the router up and going. All by myself. I'm sure the hiccups with come soon but I think me and my new dell are in the honeymoon phase. Completely in love and think the other can do no wrong. It's not as pretty as the HP but looks aren't what matter. It's whats inside that counts.

A Fun-Filled Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend. Here is a brief breakdown of the happenings and some pics for you to enjoy.

Friday my mom and I took the kids to the zoo. We had a blast despite the chilly weather. We even got to see the new baby Panda!

On Sat. Bryan and I went to the Thrashers game with some friends. We had front row seats, right on the glass. It was a great kid free evening.

Sunday we did the Easter basket thing and everyone (mom and dad, Joany, and Jason) came over for dinner. We skipped the Easter egg hunt since we had already been to two!

Ready, Set, Walk!

I have made a big commitment this past week. I have committed to walking 60 miles over 3 days to raise money and support for breast cancer. Why you may ask? Well, I wasn't quite sure myself until we did our first fundraiser yesterday. We stood outside Kroger in 35 degree weather asking people to help us out. Some people donated money, some people offered prayers, and most people offered stories. Stories of loved ones suffering not only from breast cancer but from many other types of cancer. Personal stories of their own struggles. I even received a huge hug from a 75 year old women. With tears in her eyes, she thanked me for what we were doing. She has already lost 3 close family members to breast and other forms of cancer. And that is why I am walking.
It was a great way to start out the journey I am about to take. We raised over six hundred dollars, of which $148 will go to my own personal fundraising pot!! The money is really needed (I have to personally raise $2200) but the experience was worth more I think. And I'm sure the thought of it will get me through many 6am training walks.
I am positive that many more blogs will be about this. You can also check out my 3 day page at the link listed under my favorite things.

one thing I wish

I am the worlds worst at getting film developed. Because of this, I find random rolls lying around and never know what pics I am going to have when I finally get around to taking them in. Several weeks ago I found this roll and took it to get developed. It's of pics from when Aimee and Jack came to visit around Christmas time. We had such a fun time and it was great getting to watch our kids play.

So here is one thing I wish. I wish that I lived closer to that handful of friends that really know me. The one's that really matter. Most of my really close friends are scattered all over the country. It would be fun if we had the chance to visit once in a while, but with kids and hectic jobs it doesn't happen much. I know that I will never live close enough to most of them for our kids to really get to know each other. To become friends. and that makes me kinda sad. So I savor the moments we have....on the phone listening, or brief visits. Who knows. Maybe one day Bryce will have a crush on a girl that lives in Arizona that he met when thier moms hung out for a girls weekend. Or maybe Callie will decide to stay with her Aunt RoRo in NY for a summer to learn all about life in the big apple.
