Callie's big day

Today was a really big day for Callie. She had her first official photo shoot for a Macy's catalog! For those of you who don't know...Callie got signed with a child modeling agency several months ago. We did it on a whim after several people suggested it would be a good idea. When they picked her Bryan and I both thought it was neat but never really expected anything to come of it. At least we thought that until yesterday. We got a call from her agent (how crazy is it that my 18 month old has an agent) letting us know that Macy's wanted to book her for a shoot. Crazy!! The shoot was this afternoon and it went really well. I find it funny how so many adults (7 total) were focused on one little girl. They even asked if she wanted the music turned on and what she likes to listen to. Too funny. Anyway, I'll make sure to update with the date that the catalog is coming out as soon as I know.
And I'll also let you know how her next shoot goes.....It's next Monday!!!

Snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It snowed here last night. I don't know who was more excited...Bryce, Callie, or Bryan. They were only calling for a "wintery mix" (what exactly is a wintery mix?). We ended up with close to 2 inches before it started raining. It was Bryce first snow and he loved it. He even got to stay up way past his bed time to play outside. Bryan taught him how to make snowballs and they had a snowball fight. We made a snowman. We caught snowflakes on our tongue. Such a great evening.

Here is a video and some pics of our snowy night.

you never know what kids will say

flashback to Monday. Bryan and I pick Bryce up from preschool. Bryan gets in the drivers seat and I go to open up the backdoor to put Bryce in his booster seat. Right as I am swinging the door open, Bryce drops his bookbag and bends down to pick it up. The cardoor slams into his cheek instantly causing a bright red bump that continues to grow into a bruise the size of a golf ball. Great, I think. I know that kids get hurt all the time, it's part of being a kid. But I think all moms have had that moment of worrying that someone might think it's something other then an accident. Maybe I get that from my mom being a school counselor and hearing stories of defaces being called very frequently at schools. Silly to worry about, I know, but it crosses my mind every once in a while.
Flash forward to today. I am picking Bryce up from preschool and one of his teacher's asks "how did Bryce get that bruise on his face?". I quickly explain about the bookbag and the car door. When I finish they both look at each other and laugh. This makes me a little nervous so I ask them why they are laughing. They say " we figured it was something like that". They then proceed to tell me that when they asked Bryce what happened he told them "I dropped my book bag and mommy hit me". Ahhhhh!! You have to love the things that come out of kids mouths.

first haircut

Callie got her first haircut today! It was getting out of control.....long in the back, short in the front, and sticking out constantly. I took her to the cutest kids cut place called Pigtails and Crewcuts. She sat in a plane and ate animal crackers while someone blew bubbles at her and gave her a doll to play with. It was wonderful. There were no tears or screams. In fact she laughed and smiled thru the entire haircut. And she ended up with the most adorable bob. She's already a girly girl!!
Callie got this certificate to keep in a scrapbook.....so cute!

why so serious!!Showing off her new style (don't you just love her crooked grin)A side view....the back looks really cute

sneaky

I was sneaky today....and I'm so proud of myself. I switched the kids regular chicken nuggets with Veggie Nuggets (the Morning Star brand). They ate them and didn't say a word about them tasting weird. Score one for mom. and dad. He is the one that accidentally bought them on his last grocery trip. Best accidental purchase yet!!

Future Class Clown

So Bryce got in trouble (again!) at school today. Seems he is always trying to make the kids laugh. His teacher says he doesn't know when to stop being silly. Today he thought it would be funny to spray the other kids in his class with water from the faucet. Not so funny to sopping wet 4 year olds. I have a feeling he will be labeled as class clown in a couple of years.
Here he is tonight acting silly and showing off his "muscles". Please note the lovely outfit. That is what you get when you allow a four year old to dress themselves.

Happy New Year

We had a fabulous New Year's eve. While it would have been fun to ring in the new year decked out in a new dress at a very grown up party, those days are currently on hold. We rang in 2008 celebrating with some close friends and the kids. We had a great dinner (lobster and steak....just steak for me) and some yummy cocktails. We played several really loud, hilarious rounds of Music Catchphrase. Then we set off fireworks at midnight while the boys ran around screaming. It was a great night.....minus the small fire that was set on the deck from the fireworks. No worries...it was put out quickly and caused very little damage. You definitely know it's a good party when something goes aflame!
In all seriousness I am looking forward to what 2008 has in store for us. 2007 may not have been the best year, but it did many great moments. I have come to realize that life is going to have it's downs. But it's focusing on the up's that counts. So that is my new year's resolution: To really concentrate on all of the great things in my life and try not to worry about the rest. Worrying never helped anyone right? (or at least that is what my mom told me).

Guess who is going to have nightmares about giant lobster?

Callie decides to show the lobster who's the boss
