Ego at 4

Here is my favorite conversation with Bryce today...

On the way to school Bryce was getting frustrated at Callie for copying him. I then tried to explain why she does this...

Bryce: Make her stop copying me Mom!
Me: She's only doing it because she loves you. She looks up to you and thinks you are really cool.
Bryce: Well of course she does Mommy...I am really cool!!

fun ways to waste time

I love quizes like this! If you go to the website you will spend a fair amount of time taking random, useless quizes! Maybe a waste of time, but so much fun!!
Do you think this sounds like me?

You Are Flip Flops

You are laid back and very friendly.

Cheery and sunny in disposition, you usually have something to smile about.

Style is important to you, as long as you can stay casual.

It takes a lot to get you to dress up!

You are a loyal and true person, though you can be a bit of a flake.

You tend to "play hooky" and blow off responsibilities a lot more than most people.

You should live: By the beach

You should work: At a casual up and coming company

call me Tiger Woods

Bryce has had golf clubs since he was 2. And he has always been pretty good at it. Lately his baseball swing has been improving and Bryan has started to worry that it might effect his golf swing (that is what we have been told). So this afternoon Bryan decided to spend a little time "coaching" him in golf. They had a fun time and Bryce started hitting the ball really well. At one point, he says "I'm going to hit it like Tiger Woods".... and he proceeded to hit it over the fence! Here is a video from the lesson.

Here comes Peter CottonTail...

Happy Easter! We had a great Easter weekend. Friday night we had friends over and stayed up way to late. Saturday Bryan took the kids to the park for a picnic while I did a fundraiser for the 3 Day. My mom (aka Nana) came over Sat evening and spent the night with us (my dad is out of town). This morning we got up and the kids found their Easter baskets. They also got baskets from my mom and Bryan's mom. Needless to say, they will be eating candy for the next 2 weeks!! The Easter Bunny hid eggs in our backyard so we had a nice Easter egg hunt in the backyard followed by a wonderful dinner. Bryce told me his favorite part of the day was the egg hunt. Callie would probably tell you her favorite part of the day was eating lollipops. It was the first thing she went for and the last thing I pried out of her little chubby fingers before bed. At one point she was walking around and with 3 (open) lollipops!
Below is a slideshow of pics from today, the Easter egg hunt at preschool, and Bryce's last tball game. My new favorite picture of Callie is included...Black and White with her "Dodger's chick" shirt on (her hair is up in pigtails...sooo cute!). It's near the end so you may have to wait a while for it to come up.

who's idea was this?

Who's idea was it to put 4 yr olds in white and blue pinstripe baseball pants? Obviously they never did the laundry.

tornados in Atlanta?!

We have been having bad weather....really bad weather. Last night a tornado went thru downtown Atlanta. It caused a lot of damage and the city is working hard to clean up. Today we had more bad weather. Since noon, Thunderstorms have been rolling thru. These storms contained tornado's, hail (really big hail!), and lots of lightning. We had one come within 5 miles of our house. It was really scary. I had Bryce and Callie building a "fort" out of couch pillows in the bathroom. I hate storms but I realize that as a mom I have to try really hard to not project that to my kids. Bryce keeps asking when we can go back into the bathroom to build a fort!
I guess he wasn't bothered by the weather.
Callie continues to want to wear the frog costume. She dug it out of the laundry this morning and screamed until I put it on her. I have decided to let her wear it as much as she wants. I'm sure she will grow out of it soon. Here are some pics from today in between storms. I had to get them outside...you can only sit inside for so long without going crazy.

what we do for our kids

We made a major decision about Bryce recently. We decided to hold him back a year and not send him on to a full day kindergarten next year. He has a summer bday which would make him one of the younger kids. We spoke to his teacher about it and she agreed it might be best. He is smart but developmentally just not ready. So...our plan was to keep him at the church preschool where he is in their half day kindergarten. But there is a kink in the plan. They might not have enough kids for a class. So we had to move on to step B which is to put him in a GA Pre-K Program. The only one that I would consider is at The Buice School. A Gwinnett county school that is solely for Special Needs Pre-K and the State funded Pre-K program (most state funded Pre-K's are in daycares...not a route I really wanted to take). This morning was the day to get an appointment for registration. They told me the doors opened at 8am but that people usually got there early...really early, like 5am early. So I woke up at 4am, got ready, grabbed some coffee, and arrived at the school at 4:45. I was not the first one there!! There was at least 15 people in front of me!! Luckily the women who were there were all really nice (why is it always the moms who do this kind of stuff?) and the next 3 hours past pretty quickly. Did I mention that it was 30 degrees outside?
One day when Bryce gets really mad at me and screams "you don't care about me" I have my fall back story of "oh yeah, well I sat in 30 degree weather for 3 hours just to get you into a great school".
I'm now going to bed...It's been a long day.

spring day

It was beautiful outside today. Yesterday it was freezing cold. We even had some snow flurries. But today it was so nice. Bryce and Callie both love to play outside. They would be out there 24-7 if I let them. So we had a wonderful family day playing outside. Bryan and Bryce practiced baseball and I pushed Callie on the swing. I also tried to get some new pictures of the kids. Getting them both to look at the camera and smile is impossible.

Check out the one below of Callie eating bark!!

Bryce loves to have his picture taken...He's getting so big!

painting leads to embarrassing moment

I decided to work on Bryce's room today. Bryan was home and Bryce's game was cancelled due to weather, so I had an entire afternoon. In keeping with the transportation theme, I painted his wall with some of the same trucks that are on his bedding. I think it came out pretty good. Bryce loves it so I guess that's all that matters. And about the embarrassing moment....I put on some old clothes this morning knowing I was going to be painting. I made two trips this morning (Home Depot and Hobby Lobby) to pick up supplies. Fast forward to tonight. As I am standing in Bryce's room admiring my work Bryan starts laughing and asks if the jeans I had on are the ones I wore to the store. Seems I have a quarter size hole in the butt near the pocket and didn't even realize it!!

here I go, or should I say walk, again

So as most of you know i am doing the Breast Cancer 3 day walk again. Last year was so amazing and I am really excited about doing it again. I started my fundraising and it's been slow going. I'm trying to not bet too disappointed. We have lots of team fundraisers planned so I'm sure I will get there one way or another!
I absolutely love everyone on my team. They are the most amazing, supportive women I have ever met! I walked 5 miles last night with my co captain (and Callie!). It was so nice to get out and get some fresh air. I have found that walking really helps calm me and Lord knows I need some calming right about now!! Anyway....I thought I would post a couple pics from last year's walk.

Take me out to the ball game

Bryce is playing baseball this spring. He had his first unofficial game last weekend (it was a charity tournament and they had a double header). He had so much fun! And he played great too. They pitch 3 balls to each child and if they don't get a hit they then get to hit off the tee. Bryce was 1 of 3 kids to hit a pitched ball! His coach gave each of them a "game ball" to keep in honor of their first real hit. I am going to put it off to the side and save it for him.
Callie also had fun at the games. She spent a good bit of time scavenging around for left over food! I pulled an old lollipop and a piece of chewed up chewing gum out of her mouth!! So disgusting. I will be giving her a new lollipop at every game to keep this from happening again!
Bryce gets some last minute pointers before his turn at bat

batter up!!

Bryce (and Bryan) take the field. Bryce shows him what "ready position" looks like

Callie has fun watching her big brother. and chewing gum she picked up off the ground!

service engine soon

This light has been my arch nemesis this week. After being in the shop 2 times the light came back on. They could not figure out why. The diagnostic machine was telling them the truck was fine but the light would not go off. They "thought" (translation..we don't know for sure) that it needed a new fuel injector. So far the light has stayed off but I'm not holding my breath.
I hate that little light.
